FRANK Flow & FRANK WET system water heat exchanger

Why a water heat exchanger in water bodies is the ideal solution

  • Free energy potential: Surface waters store heat like a natural battery.
  • High efficiency: Usable in combination with heat pumps for both heating and cooling.
  • Environmentally friendly: No use of fossil fuels, CO₂-neutral operation.
  • Flexible: Suitable for rivers, standing waters and coastal areas.

FRANK Flow – the versatile water heat exchanger for rivers and lakes

The FRANK Flow is the universal solution within our water heat exchanger range. It is designed for flowing waters such as rivers and streams, while also being ideally suited for use in lakes and other standing water bodies.

With its large heat exchange surface and robust design, it provides an economical, flexible and fast solution for extracting heating and cooling energy from water bodies.

Advantages of FRANK Flow

  • Suitable for flowing and standing waters
  • Cost advantage compared to geothermal boreholes – no deep drilling required
  • Suitable for single-family homes, multi-family buildings, commercial properties and cold district heating networks
  • Simple installation and fast assembly
  • Planning and implementation support available

How a water heat exchanger works in water bodies

FRANK WET
FRANK WET
  • The heat exchanger extracts stored thermal energy from the water and transfers it to a heat transfer medium.
  • The heat transfer medium used is either water or an ethylene glycol–water mixture (brine) with up to 35% glycol content. This mixture ensures reliable operation even at low water temperatures.
  • A heat pump then transfers this energy into the heating or cooling system.
  • A closed-loop system ensures: no filter contamination, no corrosion, long service life and low maintenance requirements.

Typical applications for FRANK Flow

  • Water heat exchangers in lakes for single-family homes
  • Water heat exchangers in rivers for multi-family homes and commercial buildings
  • Cold district heating networks in residential areas
  • Retrofit projects without deep drilling

FRANK WET – water heat exchanger for special requirements

  • The FRANK WET is our solution for special conditions, such as higher output per module or specific installation requirements in standing or flowing waters.
  • The surrounding protective housing with optimised piping ensures high efficiency.
